Clause started five years ago with the vision that contractual agreements should be computable records, not simply PDFs. They should be able to pass data to, and receive data from, external sources such as critical business systems, and become an integrated part of IT infrastructure, not stored in Dropbox or Google Drive. This vision resulted in Clause developing many firsts from the Smart Clause® to IoT-enabled supply agreements, and real-time parametric insurance contracts.
Over the past two years Clause has worked closely with DocuSign to develop groundbreaking capabilities in contracting technology such as User Data Verification. Together, it was obvious that the combination of scale and distribution DocuSign enables, coupled with the pioneering innovations developed by Clause, are a perfect fit for one another.
Today, I am pleased to announce that Clause has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by DocuSign. By working together, we are able to harness these synergies and work together to build the future of contracts: Smart Agreements.
The opportunity in front of us is to deliver Smart Agreements to the world, leveraging best-in-class eSignature and CLM products, as part of one of the largest tech companies. The Clause team will continue our work within DocuSign to deliver on our shared vision for smart agreements—a development that will fundamentally change the future of contracts, just like word processing and eSignature.
Accomplishing this much in such a short space of time would not have been possible without everyone that supported us throughout the past five years - investors, the team, partners, customers, and more. Thank you for working with us. For the next chapter please follow DocuSign for the latest developments as Clause becomes part of the DocuSign family.
To making the future of agreements, smart!
